According to The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries:
A ton of paper made from recycled fibers instead of virgin fibers conserves:
- 17 trees
- 6953 gallons of water
- 463 gallons of oil
- 587 pounds of air pollution
- 3.06 cubic yards of landfill space
- 4077 Kilowatt hours of electricity
We are off to a running start in 2010, since January 1st HV Shred clients have saved:
- Over 700 trees
- Over 300,000 gallons of water
- Over 20,000 gallons of oil
- Over 25,000 poungs of air pollution
- Over 130 cubic yards of landfill space
- Over 175,000 Kilowatt hours of electricity

Q: Is recycled paper better for the environment than virgin paper?
A: Yes! It's common sense that making new paper from old paper is easier on the Earth.
Here's why:
- It helps preserve forests, because it reduces demand for wood;
- It conserves resources and generates less pollution during manufacturing, because the fibers have already been processed once; and
- It reduces solid waste, because it diverts usable paper from the waste stream.
